The driver of a dump truck has died six days after a Bethlehem crash killed his passenger.

Bobby Johnson, 66, of Hellertown, was driving the truck the afternoon of June 9 when it collided with another vehicle at East 4th and Emery streets on the city’s Southside, past the Wind Creek Casino and near a Candlewood Suites hotel, authorities said.

The truck then crashed into a metal traffic sign support post. Police said both men in the dump truck were injured, and Johnson had to be extricated. Injuries were not reported in the other vehicle involved.

The front seat passenger, 57-year-old David Polczer of Bethlehem, was pronounced dead the afternoon of the crash at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said.

His cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma due to the crash, the coroner said. His death was was ruled an accident.
