Edmunds Top Rated Awards are awarded to the best vehicle of the year every year

Every year, Edmunds experts will brainstorm to determine the best-selling new car. The Edmunds Top Rated Awards are divided into nine categories and awarded to cars, trucks and SUVs that are among the best in their class according to Edmunds' vehicle testing program. This means that each winner has been tested on the Edmunds test track and fully evaluated in many miles of practical use.

There is not enough space here to cover all nine winners, so we focused on the new first-time winners in 2022, the three returning champions from last year’s awards, and a brand new Editor’s Choice Award to exceed our vehicle expectations and Delivered something truly new.

Vehicles are listed in ascending order of retail price recommended by the manufacturer, including destination charges.

Top rated car: 2022 Honda Civic

Edmunds said: When the compact car survives for nearly 50 years and continues to redefine its market segment, you will know its particularity. The Honda Civic is sporty and comfortable when driving, with good seat cushions and a smooth ride. The space of this type of car is also much larger than you would expect. The Civic sedan has a huge suitcase and plenty of space in the back seat.

Reverse point: Road noise is obvious at any speed, and can be quite disturbing on rough surfaces.

Top rated truck: 2021 Ford F-150

Edmunds said: From technology to traction, Ford F-150 continues to lead and provides the confidence that customers expect. Redesigned for 2021, the latest F-150 has withstood all those who come, expanding its reign as a repeat Edmunds top winner. We were impressed by the ingenious features of the F-150, including nearly foldable front seats and a hidden gear lever that creates a convenient work area. There is also an available onboard generator that can power tools, tailgate parties and even your house-a huge leap that caught competitors by surprise. It is worth noting that we will award the award to the 2021 model because 2022 cannot be used for testing, but no major changes are expected in 2022.

Comparison: Although the F-150 is very comfortable to ride, the helical spring rear suspension of the Ram 1500 provides a better riding experience.

Top rated SUV: 2022 Kia Telluride

Edmunds said: As a mid-size three-row SUV, Kia Telluride provides comfortable and surprisingly luxurious accommodations for seven or even eight passengers. But it is not too big to feel clumsy when driving in tighter ranges or when it is difficult to maneuver. If your passenger capacity is light, the cabin space of Telluride can be easily converted into a vehicle suitable for cargo transportation. Many exciting new SUVs were launched this year, but Kia Telluride continues to lead other models. It won Edmunds' most acclaimed SUV award for the third consecutive year.

Opposition: Compared with some competitors' SUVs, there are fewer storage boxes and storage boxes.

The most rated electric car: 2021 Tesla Model 3

Edmunds said: Although we have been severely criticizing Tesla when necessary, when we saw it, we knew it was a great car. In fact, we have acknowledged the greatness of Tesla Model 3 for three consecutive years-Model 3 is another repeat winner of our number one electric car. Although it has been unable to reach the EPA's mileage estimate in the actual test by Edmunds, our data shows that Model 3 is still one of the longest range electric vehicles on the market. It is also easy to drive, combining fast acceleration with the agility of slicing and dice. Considering that Tesla's Supercharger network is arguably the best in the game, it is clear that Model 3 is still second to none.

Counterpoint: Model 3's infotainment software does not support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Editor's choice: 2022 RIVIAN R1T

Edmunds said: Rivian R1T is the first electric truck to enter the mainstream market, this is the first appearance. R1T combines amazing on-road and off-road performance, cutting-edge technology and unique style into a package that is slightly larger than a typical medium-duty truck. In Edmunds' tests, the R1T accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds-which is on par with the latest Chevrolet Corvette-and achieved the best handling performance of any truck we have tested. In addition, the R1T can tow 11,000 pounds and has an impressive payload capacity of 1,760 pounds. You may not need this feature often, but you will definitely like the storage space provided by the R1T's spacious front suitcase and clever gear channel under the front of the bed.

Counterpoint: In our test, the R1T's touch screen user interface responds slowly, and the Bluetooth connection is occasionally interrupted. This may be resolved through future software updates.
