SANDPOINT – The county commissioner business meeting on Tuesday saw the county and grant funds of $1,616,888.16 allocated across the county for various projects and daily expenditures.

The agreed agenda includes nine liquor licenses and $28,808.42 for two invoices for the sheriff’s office. This year, a total of US$5,250 will be used for disposable nitrile gloves, and US$23,558.42 will be used to modify the parts of the new patrol car. Two smaller land divisions were also approved in the licensing agendas of West Ledges View and West Slough View.

The Clerk’s Office requested the committee to approve US$1,522,504.82 for county and emergency medical services claims and demand batches. These are daily expenses, approved by the commissioner.

The Bonner County Fair Committee proposed to the committee two action items regarding the purchase of tractors. Darcey Smith said that this tractor will be used for routine maintenance because the current tractor is too old to function properly. The funding will come from the budget of the exhibition. However, the Fair Commission is still deciding between the two tractor options.

Both of these action items were approved by the committee members.

The emergency management department received two grants from the emergency management performance grant, totaling US$32,621.96. The committee was required to match grant funds with county funds and appoint a grant administrator. The committee members approved the resolution.

The Sheriff’s Office asked the committee to approve a 60-month lease of two photocopiers with Canon Solutions America Inc. There are a total of $331 leases, all of which are daily expenses. The commissioner approved.

The Ministry of Justice Services requires the committee to approve the annual financial reports for the juvenile justice service for 2020 and 2021, including funds spent on juvenile detention centers. The report was generated by the county auditor. The committee members approved the financial report.

The prosecutor's office proposed a resolution to the commissioners, asking them to approve a total of $1970 in accidental income for victims' rights protection services. The committee approved the resolution.

The commissioner's office reappointed four fire commissioners in the Westside and Sagle fire areas. Guy Lothian, Cindy Marx, Jim Woodward and Tom Trulock will be re-elected from 2022 to 2025. These are elected positions, but since less than 50% of the seats on the fire protection committee board are currently filled, the task of the county commissioner is to fill these positions through appointments. When 50% of the seats are filled, the fire districts will be able to vote to reappoint committee positions in their own districts. If anyone wants to compete with the incumbent, the matter will be submitted to the public for voting. After appointments were made at the meeting, there are still vacant positions on the boards of the two fire protection committees.

Subsequently, the chairman of the committee, Dank Donner, adjourned the meeting and then reconvened the executive meeting.

During the executive meeting, the Human Resources Department proposed three projects to the committee members. The second is about recruiters and the first is about exemption records.

The Prosecutor’s Office submitted a resolution on litigation to the Commissioner during the executive meeting.

The county commissioner meeting is held every Tuesday at 9 am in the administrative building. The meeting is open to the public. Those who wish to participate in a virtual meeting can do so through the YouTube page of Zoom or Bonner County, where they can view archives of previous meetings.
