Brooksville, Fla. — Saturday was a terrible moment for a boy under 12 when the police said two men hijacked a truck he was sitting on the Brooksville highway.

Dennis Moloney, a spokesperson for the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, said: “He was terrified and scared to death. You hate this happening to a child. This is a very terrible incident.”

Samuel Rorah, 28, and Toby Barber, 47, now face multiple charges. According to the representative, a mother and her two children parked at the Speedway on Cortez Blvd. Just before 9pm

The representatives said that the mother went in with one child and left the other child in the back seat. He was playing video games. They said that it didn't take long for the two of them to jump in and start taking off before they noticed the boy in the back seat.

"They drove a few feet, saw him back there, stopped, the passengers got out of the car and pulled him out of the car, which was lucky. I'm glad they didn't take the child," Moloney said.

At that moment, the child ran into the track and told his mother what had happened; she called 911. A few minutes later, the patrol representative spotted the car and began hunting it down.

Moloney said: "The driver obviously found that they were following him because he stopped at a certain point and tried to wave them to get around him, but they would not get around him."

The representatives said that the driver eventually lost control of the truck. Both wanted to escape, but the police quickly caught up to them.

"Everyone, be careful. Pay attention to your surroundings. If you see something suspicious, call us and take care of your stuff. Lock it up," Moloney said.

Both Laura and Barber were accused of carjacking and resisting arrest. Everyone was held in Hernando County Jail with a deposit of US$26,000.
