This heavy-duty truck not only has a new top-level trim, but it also has several modern upgrades to its looks, powertrain, and cabin tech. The Sierra is now set to be more powerful than ever. When you want to get things done, power is crucial. The 6.6-liter Duramax diesel in the 2024 GMC Sierra HD Denali Ultimate is ready for your rock and roll with 975 lb-ft of torque and 470 horsepower. To make this increase possible, the L5P Duramax engine got a brand-new powerful turbocharger, new cylinder heads with better cooling, new pistons with revamped bowls, new fuel injectors, a new engine controller, and a higher injection pressure.
As a result, there was not just a general gain in power but also torque across the whole rpm range, with most of the improvement occurring in the lower half of the curve. This translates into better acceleration when moving heavier loads practically. The engine-braking capability of the Duramax diesel has also been enhanced thanks to more robust turbo vane actuators and upgraded engine valve springs.
Behind the wheel, you'll feel more powerful whether you're unloading or towing. Having seen how adding gears improves a pickup's drivability, we're excited about this as the 2500 HD model truck can tow up to 22,500 pounds, whereas the 3500HD model can haul up to 36,000 pounds.
The fantastic 10-speed Allison transmission, initially debuted for the 2020 model, supports the Duramax diesel engine. The same transmission will also support the 6.6-liter gasoline V-8 engine from GMC in 2024. Because the Allison has fewer "steps" between gear ratios than the traditional six-speed automatic, the gasser will be able to maintain more of its peak power.

Inside the Denali Ultimate, the seats are full-grain leather in the trim-exclusive color of Alpine Umber. The trim all over the cabin is made of dark Paldao wood. Microsuede is used for the visors, headliners, and parts of the A-and B-pillars.
The top-of-the-line truck has front seats that can be adjusted in 16 different ways. Besides this, the stereo is a Bose system with 12 speakers to enjoy yourself as you cruise around town. There is also a power sunroof, a 15-inch head-up screen, and a rear camera mirror.
The tech side has a new transparent trailer camera and a Gross Combined Weight Rating Alert system that informs you if you have gone over the truck's gross combined weight rating.
A new 13.4-inch-diagonal infotainment display system dictates the center stack. It can connect to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly. You can buy a 12.3-inch screen to spice things up. According to GMC, the inside has "more premium materials."

Most of the changes to the outside of this GMC powerhouse pickup are made to the grille, fascia, and front bumper. Each trim level gets a different look for the front end. Also, the functional handrail scoop on Duramax diesel designs adds a unique crossbar to the Denali Ultimate trims.
Even though most of the work on this truck’s outside was done on the front, the back has better taillights. When you get close, start the car, or use the turn signals, the new lighting makes way for new animated lighting sequences. The Denali Ultimate, as well as the SLE, and AT4, have new wheel alternatives, including 22-inch wheels that can be added as an extra.
The dark Vader chrome trim outside the new Denali Ultimate makes it easy to spot. It has 20-inch wheels with parts that are machined and high-gloss. The truck also comes with a MultiPro Tailgate that opens in six different ways.
With six different body colors, you can never run out of options. You can opt for Downpour Metallic, Redwood Metallic, Sterling Metallic, Titanium Rush Metallic, Meteorite Metallic, or Volcanic Red Tintcoat. Currently, we can only wait as the 2024 GMC Sierra HD Denali Ultimate is expected to arrive at dealerships in the first quarter of 2023.
