Earlier this week, people enjoying Amtrak in Montana worried that if vaccine enforcement continues, services will derail. Fortunately, Amtrak is now canceling the vaccine authorization.

The office of Senator Steve Dynes (R-MT) of Montana announced the news on Tuesday afternoon.

Hill’s headline on December 9 was: "Amtrak will cut services because employees refuse to be vaccinated."

The company’s president told members of Congress on Thursday that Amtrak will cut services and that starting this winter, passengers will experience a slowdown, partly due to the Biden administration’s vaccine authorization for federal contractors.

Last week, Danes publicly opposed Biden’s vaccine authorization and its possible impact on Amtrak employees and services in Montana:

Senator Steve Dynes: Biden’s authorization is having a serious impact on Montana’s businesses and workers across the state. After experiencing long-term closures related to the pandemic, now our Hi-Line community and workers may have to deal with another reduction in Empire Builder services, this time as a direct result of Biden’s authorization. These orders are terrible for our state and workforce.

Danes has been criticizing Biden's several federal vaccine regulations. Earlier this fall, he proposed legislation to cancel Biden’s executive order against federal contractors. The order was later stopped by a federal judge.

Danes also signed legislation to restore Amtrak services and restore employees who took time off due to COVID-19.

Since Rep. Jennifer Carlson (R-Manhattan) House Bill 702 has been signed by Governor Greg Gianforte, the vaccine authorization violates state law in Montana.
