Staria Limited is priced at US$85,990, which seems to be a huge sum of money for a modern van with some seats. However, this is a luxuriously equipped vehicle; it is not a van in the strict sense.

The extraordinary Staria is actually based on the Santa Fe SUV platform and brings all the required technology and driving performance. Essentially, Hyundai has turned its most exquisite SUV into a van (especially the light commercial Staria Load, but will be described in detail later), and then turned this van into a van that can be compared with many top SUVs Comparable to the manned car.

We don’t need to talk about styling, right? You have eyes. It may be polarized, but we like this external attitude, especially for practical home/business vehicles. vox-pop seems to agree.

The only thing about the future style is that most people think of Staria as a hybrid or plug-in car. In fact, it is equipped with a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine from Santa Fe, which is in a low state (130kW and 148kW). It is still a powerful and possibly very frugal engine, but the noisy compression ignition does not fit the design philosophy.

The advantage of the powertrain is that you can also get a modern HTRAC all-wheel drive system, which is really good. It provides reliable handling and seamless traction on low-friction surfaces, even though you will never go off-road. There is no ground clearance.

The multi-link rear suspension is very complicated for a van, so you can ensure stability at high speeds. Disembarking at high speed is still a very important thing, but your passengers will complain long before the chassis appears.

The price of Staria Limited is partially proven by unlimited technology. It gets all the good things from top Santa Fe, including digital instruments (in the end, that weird "cube" theme looks appropriate in modern cars), blind spot view monitors (it throws a high-resolution video source ) Vehicles in the dashboard when changing lanes), look around, rear occupant alert, and exit assist (warning of approaching vehicles when you open the door). The list goes on. It has a driver and a safety assistant for backup.

But there are also many pleasant MPV things. You can call up a photo of the staff in the back seat on the infotainment screen to chat. If you stand there with the key, the USB port in the back seat and the electric sliding door will automatically open.

The rear seats slide but cannot be disassembled; the backrests can lie flat to withstand longer loads, and the third row has a "tilt" function for the cushions to maximize the load space from the floor.

There is a lot of secondary storage space, and most of them are large, including two dashboard bins. Both the first and second rows have a huge center console; convenient, although it also means you can't walk from the front to the second row.

The rear seats are leather, but not luxurious. In this respect, Staria is more luxurious than the company express: space is everywhere, but the main impression is functionality. This is not the Palisade Nappa version.

When we talked about this topic, the cabin shape was great and the technology was great, but the materials used for the dashboard and door trim were still beautiful, well, vanny. Not much texture and not much soft-touch surface. It reminds you that some Staria variants can also be used as everyday vans.

Having said that, we also spent a week on Staria Load, which is worth $62,990. Not a competitor by any means, but it is still interesting to see what is done on the same platform.

The same engine is in the same tuning state, but FWD. And because it is more than 300 kg lighter (naturally unloaded), its performance feel is something that Staria Limited does not have.

For a van, it still looks incredibly cool, although not as fancy as a passenger car; for example, the decorative strip on the nose is the LED light strip in the Staria personnel carrier, and on the Load, it It's... a decorative strip.

For effective load, the rear suspension changed from a multi-link to a leaf spring, which makes sense. This is a killer commercial advertisement that can be loaded with a forklift (low floor is also a boon for Limited) and provides nearly 5,000 liters of cargo space.

You still get a complete set of driver assistance and safety technologies, including adaptive cruise and four driving modes. Although the dashboard is rarer than pedestrians, it still comes with digital trunking and wireless phone projection.

If you really want more load seats, you can have them. Our test car is a two-seater, but you can add a second row of seats for an additional $2,000. You have reduced the loading space by 2,100 liters, but you will meet new people.
