Wilson is from the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility and Wagner leads Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.

LAYTONSVILLE, Md. – Ruppert Landscape recently appointed Cid Wilson of the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility and John C. Wagner of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. to join the company’s board of directors.

As President and CEO of the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility, Wilson helps guide advocacy efforts to increase the representation of Hispanics in Corporate America. In service of these efforts, Wilson directs programs and initiatives that advance Hispanic inclusion in the areas of employment, procurement, philanthropy, and governance at Fortune 500 companies. Wilson was appointed by President Barack Obama to the National Museum of the American Latino Study Commission, served as board chairman of the Friends of the National Museum of the American Latino from 2012 to 2016, and continues to lead advocacy efforts aimed at sustaining Congressional support for the museum’s completion.

“As a company with a diverse workforce, many of whom are of Hispanic heritage, we will most certainly benefit from Cid’s cultural perspective and insight into how we can further engage and empower our people.” said Phil Key, president of Ruppert Landscape. “Additionally, his considerable analytical experience makes him a valuable addition to our board as we aim to make data-driven decisions to grow the company in a way that benefits employees.”

As the National Director for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Wagner focuses exclusively on the risks associated with construction and real estate companies. Before Gallagher, he founded and was CEO of Construction Risk Solutions, a high-end management consulting and risk management firm that specialized exclusively in large construction companies. Prior to starting CRS, Wagner was executive vice president of Willis of Maryland, where he managed the construction practice for the Mid-Atlantic region.

“John has extensive experience in the construction industry, which constitutes about half of our business, and is deeply knowledgeable on the subject of safety and risk management,” said Craig Ruppert, Ruppert Landscape CEO. “Perhaps more importantly, he is intimately familiar with the Ruppert culture through our long-time partnership with Gallagher and has been supportive of our various initiatives over the years. Additionally, he has experience in succession planning, having developed a CEO forum group that helps transition second and third generation family businesses. We are looking forward to the many insights that he will undoubtedly bring as a member of our board.”

The PRO Series spreader line is now extended with a higher capacity model.

CLEVELAND – Buyers Products introduces a larger version of its SaltDogg PRO Series electric spreader. The new 9-1/2-foot PRO3000 model boasts a 3-cubic-yard capacity, which equates to roughly 3.2 tons of bulk #1 rock salt. The spreader joins the existing 1.5-, 2- and 2.5-cubic-yard models of the popular SaltDogg PRO Series.

To create the PRO3000, Buyers upgraded its 3-cubic-yard spreader (SHPE3000) with a swing-away chute and a remote grease-bearing kit. The chute makes bulk-unloading extra material easy at the end of the day, and it give contractors the ability to quickly load their walk-behinds on site. The remote grease-bearing kit takes the hassle out of lubricating the auger bearing. Both upgrades are standard features across the entire PRO Series line of spreaders.

“Our customers’ feedback is our most valuable resource,” said Scott Moorman, director of snow and ice at Buyers Products. “They love our PRO Series and wanted us to upgrade our 3-cubic-yard, electric, poly-hopper spreader to the same specs. So, we did just that.”

The announcement follows NCNLA’s decision to go virtual with the three-day education conference.

RALEIGH N.C. – Marketplace at Green & Growin’ 21 has been cancelled due to uncertainties surrounding the ability to hold large in-person events in January 2021.

The two-day trade show, hosted by North Carolina Nursery & Landscape Association (NCNLA), is a staple in the green industry that attracts nearly 400 exhibitors and more than 2,000 attendees from across the country.

“The NCNLA board of directors was hopeful that the public health environment would improve, but that hasn’t been the case,” said Hugh Crump, NCNLA president. “Last week, we surveyed our exhibitors and attendees, and their feedback was critical to our ability to make an informed decision. We’re disappointed but feel that we made the right choice based on the information we gathered.”

The announcement follows NCNLA’s decision to go virtual with the three-day education conference. The education program will be held Jan. 11-13, 2021, with general education sessions covering topics for growers, buyers, managers, landscapers and other industry professionals. Registered education attendees will be able to view the online sessions for three months after the event.

The company also promoted Kevin Gear to construction manager.
