The spirit of Christmas is in the air in the Nutmeg State and it's not even Halloween yet.

The Essex Steam Train & Riverboat has announced the dates and started to sell tickets for its 2022 edition of the North Pole Express on its website.

The ride takes guests on a journey up to the "North Pole," where they will watch a live musical performance and can meet characters from Christmas legends including elves, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. Guests aboard the train are invited to wear their favorite pajamas.

During the trip, riders will receive sweets like sugar cookies and hot chocolate, a video on its YouTube channel stated. Each child will also receive a small gift.

The train runs on Nov. 18 through Nov. 27 (Friday through Sunday), Nov. 30 through Dec. 18 (Wednesday through Sunday) and Dec. 21 through Dec. 23 (Wednesday through Friday).

Tickets for trips on Wednesday and Thursday are $45 per coach seat and $75 per first-class seat and on Friday through Sunday tickets are $55 per coach seat and $85 per first-class seat, according to its website. Tickets can only be purchased online. Group ticket sales for full (64 seats,) half (32 seats) and quarter car (16 seats) sales began on Sept. 13. Tickets for individual seats will begin on Sept. 15, according to a Facebook post by The Essex Steam Train & Riverboat.

Those who are a year old or younger don't require a ticket and can sit on a guardian's lap.

Guests in coach class are given padded bench seats and individuals in first-class are given the option of purchasing alcoholic beverages. Each trip lasts around 90 minutes, according to its website.
