PLAZA, N.D. — A man died Friday, Sept. 16, in a crash between a semi and a pickup truck in western North Dakota, 14 miles south of Plaza, according to the state Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 9:09 a.m. when a 2013 Ford F-350 pickup truck was northbound on 61st Avenue Northwest at the intersection of McLean County Road 2.

The F-350, driven by a 36-year-old Ryder woman, failed to yield at the intersection and collided with a westbound 2007 Freightliner semi, the patrol said.

The semi rolled into the northwest ditch and two passengers managed to crawl out. Both men were wearing seat belts and were injured, the patrol said.

The driver of the semi, a 33-year-old Garrison man, died at the scene. It was unclear whether he was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

The pickup driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, the patrol said. None of the names of the motorists involved have been released.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
