(Seguin) — We have a special start time for our Saturday Topic program this weekend. Our coverage of the local contested races that will appear on the November 8 ballot will get started on Saturday morning. The show will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday morning on KWED.

The earlier start time, at 7 a.m., is needed to provide adequate time to bring you the candidates from the District 3 race for the Seguin City Council and the District 7 race for the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees.

The race for the city council seat features Jim Lievens and Darius Gil, who will both be here to discuss their qualifications for the job and to discuss their vision of the future for the city of Seguin.

There’s another contested race in the city of Seguin. Three candidates are running for the District 8 seat on the Seguin City Council. We will have Steven Berger, Bill Keller and Eddie Davila on the Saturday Topic next week.

Meanwhile, this week’s Saturday Topic continues with the District 7 school board race. The contest features incumbent Glenda Moreno, who is being challenged by Steve Turner and Josh Bright. They will all be here to discuss the current state of the school district, the challenges it faces, and also weigh-in on the upcoming bond package that will go before voters on November 8.

Our, earlier than normal, Saturday Topic will end with a conversation about Pecan Fest at the Big Red Barn. The Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center is hosting several activities during the event slated for later this month. Jenny Siltmann and Kay Willmann will join us to discuss all the family fun planned for the event. We’ll also discuss the antique tractor pull that’s scheduled for this weekend at the Big Red Barn.

Again, the Saturday Topic program has a special earlier start time this week. The show will begins at 7:00 Saturday morning here on AM 1580 KWED. You can also listen live online at seguintoday.com.
