Meet the 500-horsepower track star brother of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.
Need more evidence to prove that the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is essentially a street car? Then look at the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, which is a racing variant of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.
Like street-legal models, the GT4 RS Clubsport is equipped with the 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine of the 911 GT3, especially the 911 GT3 Cup racing car. In the mid-engined 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, the six-cylinder belt outputs a powerful 500 horsepower at 6000 rpm at a staggering 8,300 rpm (Porsche points out that the engine speed is 9,000 rpm) and 343 pound-feet of torque. Pushing this grunt to the ground is Porsche's seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which is the only gearbox the brand offers in this Clubsport.
In addition, the racing-specific Clubsport also includes drill bits that can be used for racing, such as two-way adjustable shock absorbers and adjustable anti-roll bars. The car’s ride height, toe and camber are also adjustable, as is the huge swan-neck tail.
Other track-oriented features of the GT4 RS Clubsport include three available spring rates for the front and rear axles, a huge 15.0-inch front rotor (which is kept cool through the car’s NACA hood vent), and a track-specific stability control program . Inside, Porsche equipped the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport with a welded roll cage, Recaro racing seats and six-point seat belts, and a fire extinguisher. There is also a built-in air jack set, and enough space to accommodate a 30.4 gallon fuel cell.
Racing cars are not cheap, and the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport is not cheap either. Its pre-tax revenue is $229,000, not to mention competition-related costs. Those hoping to save some pocket money may eventually think that the $143,050 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is a better Cayman for their personal and financial needs. Of course, the Cayman GT4 RS is not a real race car, but its Clubsport relatives proved that the road model is the street version of it.
