Cincinnati - For most of Wednesday night, workers were trying to dismantle a forklift that caught fire and trapped a painter in an overhead bucket.

The Cincinnati Fire Department stated that firefighters were dispatched to the Parkland Theater after a commercial elevator hit an electric wire and caught fire. A painter was trapped in an elevator barrel about 25 feet above the ground. He was rescued with the help of an operator from Duke Energy, only to inhale some smoke.

CFD District Chief Todd Stegmuller said that the fire broke out across the street from Station 50 of the Cincinnati Fire Department, so the staff quickly rushed to the next door to put out the fire.

"They heard something happened, and then people started knocking on the door," Stegmuller said. "They tried to put out the fire, but the electricity was on the ground, so they couldn't use water. So we used dry chemicals to try to control it until we turned off the electricity."

When the staff tried to help him, the painter was trapped in the elevator for about 30 minutes. As Duke Energy had to shut down the power supply of its staff, most of the nearby areas went out of power.

When she went out of power, Donna Fliehman came out.

"It scared me," Freeman said. "So I walk slowly. I don't want to get too close."

Freeman said she was shocked to see this historic building surrounded by chaos.

"A really beautiful theater," Freeman said. "They put all the new seats here... very good. I think it's dark now."

The theater was built in 1881 and was recently repainted with its reopening and the premiere of "Ghostbusters: The Afterlife". Owner Ed Miller said that the fire did not enter the theater, but it did damage part of the bar. The power to the entire building was cut off, including the apartment above. No one was seriously injured, Miller said that once everything is cleaned up, they will try to premiere again on Friday.

At around 8pm on Wednesday evening, all electricity in Saylor Park was restored, except for the theater's electricity, which will be restored once the elevator is removed.

CFD stated that the estimated fire damage was $56,940.
