GREENVILLE – The Great Darke County Fair was home to the National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA) for a night of truck and tractor pulling in front of a packed grandstand and full house in the pits.

The Darke County Tractor Pullers Association (DCTPA) gets the track ready and oversees the NTPA at the fair. DCTPA Hall of Famer Duane “Lum” Edwards now in his 34th season announcing tractor pulls was trackside helping announce the night’s event.

“I’ll take these guys anyplace and build a track,” Edwards stated.

“Great night in Darke County tonight,” Edwards continued. “Look at the grandstand and the pit area seats. It is the most beautiful night for a tractor pull here at the fair.”

Darke County is a favorite stop on the NTPA circuit with the beautiful setting of the Great Darke County Fair.

“I talk to people that come in here – Grand National Pullers and they say; ‘I have never been in a place as nice as this, the buildings are up-kept good, the grass is all mowed, you got shade,’ he says ‘I’ve been to places where we are just out in a bare lot and they have a Grand National Pull. We come here and you guys got all this in here’,” Edwards said.

“You can thank the Darke County Fair Board and our ancestors for that,” Edwards added. “They planned ahead, they planted a lot of trees.”

Many of the nation’s best pullers made the trip to Darke County to compete while earning national points on the season.

“I just interviewed the Grand National Two Wheel Drive points’ champion,” Edwards noted. “They clinched it last Saturday up in Bowling Green.”
